Artistic Soup Photography met Stephanie & Chris on Sept. 12th, 2010 at a spot in town very meaningful to them — the Kirkwood Train Station. For over a year they met each other there as one traveled in to town to see the other when they lived apart. It was this long distance relationship that endured that illustrated to both of them that they were meant to be. As captures of love and die hard romantics, we loved their story and this engagement session pays homage to it.
Look forward to capturing the big union on June 18, 2010!

What is the first thing you look for when you begin your search for a wedding photographer? Of course, you want them to be professional and make sure that they do good quality work, but it is a sense of uniqueness that makes some wedding photographers stand out over others. Artistic Soup Photography strives to obtain unique and creative ways to make your wedding photos memorable to everyone.
Here is one technique that gives that added punch to photos:
Front and back lighting of the couple which creates a sort of halo effect around the person(s) in the photo (see examples below). This can be done simply and quickly without light stands but rather by using two external flashes, each used by a different photographer, setting one to master and one to slave. In other words, when one photographer hits the shutter button, both flashes will go off adding multiple light sources in a photo making it more interesting to the eye.
When interviewing photographers be certain to ask what creative tools and techniques they use to make certain you are presented with a lasting treasure instead of a basic documentation.

On September 4, 2010 family and friends flew in from around the country including Florida, Virginia and Maryland to celebrate Rachel and Alexander’s special union. Artistic Soup Photography had the wonderful opportunity to photograph this fun and ohh so in love couple during this beautiful holiday weekend. A big thank you for the honor!

Lauren + Brian married under the new canopy known as the Alton Ampitheater on August 28, 2010. For those of you that love art as we do at Artistic Soup Photography we loved the beauty and uniqueness of this open air space. Reminding us of some of the Beautiful open air fabric artwork by Christo http://www.christojeanneclaude.net/, this setting made for a dramatic special union.
The couple’s reception was held at the Woodlands Golf Course. And with the fun group, great grounds and zooming around in golf carts it was a great time. One of the shots we did was one of our signatures, commonly known as the ring around the rosy pose stop action with the couple in the still in the middle. This was inspired by Henri Matisse The Dance. We originally thought of and created this pose back in 2007 and Lauren & Brian’s Wedding was near its anniversary date. Since then many wedding photographers locally and abroad have copied the pose and we find this to be a great honor and biggest compliment. The later rendition of the running wedding party was conceptualized roughly 6 months later.
Lauren and Brian thank you so much for allowing us to have fun with you on your special day, capture it beautifully and we wish you many many wonderful for years together!

Colleen and Ryan were married on June 5, 2010 and we greatly enjoyed designing their album recently and reliving with them their special day. Here are some of our favorite album highlights:
